SUMMARY:2023 Envirothon
DESCRIPTION:The Envirothon is an outdoor environmental learning competition for junior high and high school students. Teams of students compete in five learning stations and take a 20-point exam on environmental topics that include: Aquatics\, Forestry\, Wildlife\, Soils\, and Current events.  The 2023 event will be held May 3rd and contest information can be found at MASWCD – Envirothon \nThe top three teams in each area/region go on to compete in the State Envirothon. The winning team at the State Envirothon advances to the National Envirothon and competes against teams from across the USA and Canada.

SUMMARY:Nitrate Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Hubbard County SWCD offers a Free Nitrate Testing Clinic the first Friday of every month.  Please bring a half cup of tap water in a clean DISPOSABLE container after running your tap for 5 minutes.  Samples should be taken on the morning of testing.  You can print off a form from our Home Page and complete it before dropping it off\, or you can complete a form provided at the front desk.  It takes about 5 minutes to test your sample and the results will be recorded in our informational pamphlet for you.  If you prefer not to wait\, we can email the results to you after testing. Please contact us at 218-732-0121 ext. 4\, or by email at info@hubbardswcd.org if you have any questions. \nPlease Note: this is not a certified lab test.

SUMMARY:Freshwater Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Freshwater Festival will be held at the Camp Wilderness Boyscout Camp for all area 6th graders. Students will learn about the protection\, preservation\, and conservation of water resources in an atmosphere of fun and learning. Hubbard County has substantial ground and surface water resources. Educators from the SWCD\, NRCS\, MNDNR\, U of M Extension\, Headwaters Science Center\, and community experts will teach students about the different aspects of these waters and their relationship to other resources: wetlands\, forestry\, and wildlife through interactive presentations.
