Description

Butternut Is a large tree, slightly smaller than that Black Walnut.  At maturity they range 30’ – 50’ with a diameter of up to 2’.  The fruit grows about 2” long, with a light brown nut inside.

The butternut is shade intolerant and fast growing.  Typically found in southeastern and eastern Minnesota.
